Module 2 - Business Expansion and the International Environment

The module begins in October, 2009. It consists of a session (1 week) conducted outside Denmark on ‘Country Analysis’ and six two-four-day sessions at SIMI (one at conference centre) including tutoring and facilitation of business projects.

The Business Dimension
In this module, you will develop an understanding of major changes, drivers and issues that effect company operations. During the module the project groups typically visit a collaborating executive centre or business school as part of the country analysis session. 

Module 2 is a group project module, in which you and your team also analyse international sourcing, production, marketing and distribution issues for a client company. This project will deepen your understanding of that industry and the business analysis methods introduced in Module 1. Typically, the client company will want to enter a new market, expand its business, or requires a company audit to guide its decision-making on new initiatives.

The Business Dimension ends with presentation of the project to the faculty and to the client company.

The Leadership Dimension
During the group business project, you will need to draw on the expertise of others as well as on your own knowledge and experience, and each group will be expected to strive to become a high performance team. This provides an opportunity to put theories about group dynamics into practice and to learn when and how group processes help achieve high performance.

As a member of a group, you will have the opportunity to experiment with new ways of behaving, develop more effective group behaviour, and work toward the leadership skills you identified in your action plan.

The Leadership Dimension ends with a presentation on group process to the SIMI faculty.
