James C. Ellert

 

Emeritus Professor of Finance and Strategy at IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland

James Ellert focuses on financial management, mergers and acquisitions, valuation, international capital markets, and strategic planning within international banks.

Jim is professor of finance and strategy and associate dean for academic affairs at IMD, Lausanne where he is also director of “The Job of the Chief Executive” program.

Jim graduated in political science and economics from the University of Toronto. He earned a MA in economics at the University of Western Ontario and a Ph.D. in finance and economics from the University of Chicago. He has more than 35 years of experience in executive education, having taught finance and associated subjects at the University of Western Ontario, the University of Chicago, and Queen's University, Kingston, Canada, before joining the faculty of IMD in 1981.
