André Wierdsma focus in teaching and research is in the area of organizational change, learning organization, organizational dynamics, complex decision making, interface management and leadership. Professor Wierdsma was director Executive MBA, director In-company programs and presently director Advanced Management program (AMP).
He has been a visiting professor at SIMI since 1996. He has extensive experience in designing and teaching executive development programmes. He is co-founder of the Executive Management Development Centre (EMDC) of Nyenrode Business Universiteit. The companies he has worked with include ABN-AMRO, Aegon, Digital, Danzas, DHV consultants, DHL, DSM, Dutch Railways, Digital, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Fortis, KPMG, IBM, ING, PTT-Telecom, Philips, Randstad, Shell, Siemens, Schneider, VVAA, Vitens and others.
Professor Wierdsma is co-author of ‘Becoming a Learning Organization’ (1990), an award-winning best seller. His Phd. thesis ‘Co-creation of Change’ (1999) was nominated as ‘Best book of the year’ by the Dutch Association of Organizational Consultants. In the book a methodology for organizational change is built on such new conceptual frameworks on knowledge development, transactional organizing and collective learning. His latest books are: ‘Leading co-creation of change (2001) and Organizing for learning’ (2002).
Professor Wierdsma has a BA degree from Nyenrode Business University, and Msc. (com laude) in Clinical and Organizational Psychology from Free University, Amsterdam. His Ph.D. is in Social Sciences from the University of Tilburg, The Netherlands.
