c. Strategic Pricing and Reimbursement Planning (P&R)

General

Medical product markets are driven by powerful economic forces that are significantly shaped by the reimbursement policies and administrative decisions of a wide variety of public and private payers.

Product reimbursement planning is a very complex activity that cuts across all aspects medical technology development. There is no simple cookbook to develop a reimbursement plan since each device, diagnostic, or drug will intersect with a wide variety of payer policies that cut across settings of care, patient populations, and diseases. Fortunately, there is a unique planning template that managers can use to systematically evaluate the reimbursement opportunities and risks for a specific new product. These lead directly to action items that should be accommodated in the product development process. Properly applied, reimbursement planning will help deliver premium pricing, rapid market development, and increased customer satisfaction.

This program will provide a detailed introduction to the complex process product-specific reimbursement planning and provide participants with a Six Step Reimbursement Planning Template they can employ in their own companies.

Guest faculty:  Wayne I Roe, founder of Covance Health Economics and Outcomes Services, and a leading life sciences venture capitalist.

Mr. Roe is widely recognized as the pioneer of formalized strategic reimbursement planning for drug, device, biotech, and diagnostic products. His work on behalf of both established and startup life sciences innovators is credited with building billions of dollars of market value over two decades across a wide spectrum of products, conditions, and markets.

Course structure: 2-day intensive program

Dates: Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 May 2009 both days from 8:30 - 17:00

Tuition fee: The program fee per participant is EUR 1,500 excl. VAT and incl. all learning materials and food during the program, but not travel and lodging expenses.

Location: The course takes place at the Hotel Kong Arthur Hotel in Copenhagen
