Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is an umbrella term for the information technology field, and includes telecommunications and networking industries. The ICT software and service industries continue to grow. However, uncertainty and change persist due to altered customer behavior, globalization and continued innovation. Customers are hesitant to commit to major new investments without a promise of financial return. Competitors are "offshoring" software development and back-office services to low-cost countries. New communications media and software applications are being developed. Many ICT companies are being forced to reduce costs and staff in developed markets especially for existing products and services. Allies are attempting to establish new industry standards. Consulting, system integration, telecommunications and software are blending to create solution and outsourced services instead of hardware, software and implementation products. As a consequence, the winners of the past may not necessarily be the winners of the future.

The MITS Diploma Program equips the future leaders of ICT software & service companies with skills in designing and implementing strategies that 'compete for an uncertain future'. The program focuses on the 'big picture' and not just the day-to-day sales and delivery of software & service. Uncertainty is addressed through an understanding of fundamental industry forces at work, through competitive analysis, through business-unit and cross-functional strategy development and through the inclusion of sessions on change management during implementation. And, as a by-product of action learning methods, participants develop practical strategies for the sponsoring companies and points of view on key industry issues.
Across the industries we serve, we also engage in the delivery of company customized programs, case development, specific presentations and support for research. Contact the program director for a non-committing discussion.
