Module 2 - Business Expansion and the International Environment
The module begins in October 2010. It consists of a one-week session on Country Analysis conducted outside Denmark, and six sessions of 2 - 4 days at SIMI (one at the conference center) including tutoring and facilitation of business projects.
The business dimension
In this module, you will develop an understanding of major changes, drivers and issues that effect company operations. During the module the project groups typically visit a collaborating executive center or business school as part of the country analysis session.
This is a group project module, in which you and your team analyze international sourcing, production, marketing and distribution issues for a client company. This project deepens your understanding of that industry and the business analysis methods introduced in module 1. Typically, the client company will want to enter a new market or expand its business, or requires a company audit to guide its decision-making on new initiatives.
The business dimension ends with a presentation to the faculty and the client company.
The leadership dimension
During the group business project, you will need to draw on your own knowledge and experience, as well as the the expertise of others. Each group will strive to become a high performance team. This provides an opportunity to put theories about group dynamics into practice and to learn when and how group processes help achieve high performance.
As a member of a group, you will have the opportunity to experiment with new ways of behaving, develop more effective group behavior, and work toward the leadership skills you identified in your action plan.
The leadership dimension ends with a presentation on group processes to the SIMI faculty.
